Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) recently hosted the "Co-Incubation Industry Acceleration Summit" in Hong Kong, where the first batch of investment projects under the "Joint Corporate Acceleration Fund" was officially announced. Centered on co-creating an industry ecosystem, the summit aims to foster a tripartite collaborative ecosystem among tech ventures, investors, and industry partners, accelerating technology validation, commercial deployment, and international expansion. The event not only provided a matchmaking platform for startups but also further highlighted Hong Kong's connecting role in the deep tech sector.
The six-day summit connected Hong Kong, Dongguan, and Hangzhou, attracting over 400 tech entrepreneurs and investors and matching around 100 industry application scenarios. The first two days took place at Hong Kong Science Park, covering topics such as global deep tech investment trends, strategies for tech companies going global, and introductions to specific industry scenarios, helping participants grasp global innovation directions and regional cooperation opportunities.
The delegation then traveled to Dongguan and Hangzhou for in-depth industry engagement and exchanges with local innovation ecosystems. The itinerary included visits to incubation centers and pilot production bases, as well as roundtable discussions, startup roadshows, and scenario matching with local enterprises and investors. Through on-site visits and one-on-one communication, startup teams were able to directly access advanced manufacturing capabilities, commercialization channels, and potential investors, accelerating product iteration and market validation.
In his address at the summit, Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, stated that innovation and technology are powerful engines of the global economy. He noted that Hong Kong's exports of electronic products and semiconductors have grown strongly, and the capital market has seen keen demand for AI company listings. As an international financial center, Hong Kong gathers global talent and is also a rapidly rising innovation hub; cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area possess strong capabilities in advanced manufacturing, commercialization, and scaling, forming a complementary pattern that provides tech enterprises with full support from R&D to mass production.
Irene Chu, Chairperson of HKSTP, believed that the summit brought together founders, investors, and industry leaders on one platform, serving not just as an exchange event but as an efficient commercialization engine. She said that HKSTP's next phase aims to further enhance the quality of tech ventures, expand networks, and deepen collaboration throughout the innovation journey, achieving "both breadth and depth, both far and near," helping more outstanding ideas leap into the global market.
The summit officially announced the first batch of investment projects under the Joint Corporate Acceleration Fund, involving four high-potential tech companies with businesses covering self-powered wireless IoT detection technology and AI-driven wall-climbing inspection robots. These projects will leverage the fund's industrial capital and scenario resources to accelerate the transition from technology validation to commercial application, and are expected to explore international expansion opportunities through the Hong Kong platform.
According to disclosures, the Joint Corporate Acceleration Fund currently has nine limited partners and assets under management of HK$500 million, operating under HKSTP's "Joint Corporate Acceleration Programme." The fund is Hong Kong's first public-private collaboration project focused on the innovation and technology sector, managed by a statutory body of the SAR government. By introducing industrial capital, scenario resources, and market networks, the fund supports startups in reducing early-stage risks and shortening commercialization cycles.
The summit and the fund's first investments demonstrate that Hong Kong is more closely integrating its international financial strengths with the manufacturing and commercialization capabilities of the Greater Bay Area, accelerating the growth of deep tech enterprises through industry ecosystem co-creation. As more projects enter the validation and deployment stages, the synergistic effects between Hong Kong and GBA cities in the innovation and technology industry chain are expected to be further unleashed, injecting sustained momentum into the regional innovation ecosystem.
